Keidas Cafe – Kitchen & Bar, Porvoo

It's all about the good vibes!

We are a restaurant and music bar operating in the cultural space Vanha 123. We wanted to create a place where you feel at home and can become part of the community forming around this project, or just come to experience culture!

In the Keidas Cafe kitchen, Eleni makes really good vegetarian food. YUM. Heavenly! We draw inspiration from around the world and combine it with Keidas's own style. By day we serve lunch, coffee and café treats, and from Wednesday to Saturday we are open as a bar in the evenings, with Polish zapiekanki on the menu.

Entry to the bar is always free (except during the jazz festival etc.). The selection includes lots of products from local microbreweries and distilleries, come check it out.

The cultural programme is created in collaboration with different makers and builds on a continuum rooted in the productions of Bar Mary, Soho, Porvoo Jazz Festival and Porvoo Cultural Boat.

It's important to note that Keidas Cafe does not itself produce cultural events, but offers itself as part of the Vanha 123 cultural space concept, a place where anyone can produce whatever they want. Porvoo Cultural Boat and Porvoo Jazz Festival are central players here, but there are others too, and room for more! Everything previously produced in the house can continue, and now Porvoo Cultural Boat's produced evenings are a major addition. More info on the Vanha 123 pages at www.vanha123.com.

The name Keidas Cafe carries a piece of the Porvoo Cultural Boat story. The Cultural Boat has been described as a cultural oasis, and that's partly where it started. Inspiration has also come from Kasviskeidas restaurant in Turku, where low-threshold cultural activities also take place.
